Summer Homework Answer Key REDO

Dear Students and Parents, 

I hope that you've had a fantastic summer and are well rested. It's time to start getting back into the routine of waking early.
Avoid the back to school blues by setting the alarm clock a little earlier every day.

*** There was a mistake in the link I posted earlier last week. I have made the answers available and posting a link to the answers for the Summer Reading Homework. Please note that the answers have been HIGHLIGHTED in the text so students have to look at the text in order to write the answers as they are self explanatory.

Please feel free to check your answers before handing them in on the first day. This will count toward your grades for Grade 4. 

If you have misplaced your Summer Homework, download it HERE. Print it out and do the reading and writing parts. You can still click on the links to all the glogs, as I will not be deleting this blog. If you need to get hold of me, you can leave a post in the comment section below and I'll get back to you.

While I will not teach Grade 4 next semester, I am leaving you in the trusted hands of Mr. James Turner.

Happy Dragon Boat Festival!

Dear Parents and Students,

The students have been doing really well despite the fact that we are all operating on reserve energy due to Fake Friday! I think we are all looking forward to the Dragon Boat weekend in order to recharge.

This week being a short but crucial one, sees us completing our story Rosa and Blanca. The students have all made a concerted effort in trying to complete the various assigned tasks.

Well done to everyone!

Class Outing

The students will be going on an excursion this week to make their own pizzas. It should be quite interesting and they are looking forward to it.

Homework and Exams

The homework below is also a kind of review for the Exams starting next week. The Glogs are still available and can be used to review the vocabulary and stories. I will check on the one Spelling city link as it doesn’t seem to be working. You can still type in the words you want to learn and use it in the same way.

Thank you to Teacher Winnie who was kind enough to type out the dates and broad scope of the exams, and paste it in the communication books.

Rosa and Blanca

Dear Parents and Students,

  Welcome to week 16! The students had some review this weekend and I hope they were able to complete it. Anansi was quite challenging for some of our students and I hope that they will pay more attention in class this week.

  Word recognition is not a problem for most of our students, however, a few have a problem in that they still expect me to give them the answers for the reading comprehension. This is a skill that they should have acquired by now. We’ll work on it in the next few weeks.

  

  Parents,please note that some tools for school, like pencils that look like toy cars, are a distraction for your child. Keep the toys at home!

New Story

  This week we start a new story called Rosa and Blanca. The story is about two sisters who care about each other very much. It is a realistic fiction story which means that it could happen in real life.

   Vocabulary

  Yes, we are stepping up our game and covering the vocabulary from weeks 13 and 14! This week is a long one due to the Saturday classes and next week is a short one, due to the Dragon Boat Festival. So, we will be merging the two.

  Please note that these words are from the story and the students should be familiar with them by the end of the week as the daily homework includes reading the story. I will do my part and I hope that you will do yours by listening to them read every night.
